Pale Stone

Cold mineral air, iris root and a trace of warm cedar. Quiet at first, then unmistakable.

Pale Stone began in a quarry courtyard early in the morning, before the heat arrived — dust, cut stone and a cold draught moving through open shutters. We spent two years reducing it. What remains is the temperature of that hour rather than a description of it.
